It was connected to the EGR valve

looks like a vacuum solenoid of some sort

I think that's the solenoid that opens and closes the EGR valve.

Thanks guys, anyone know where this is supposed to be mounted? I found this just hanging on the side of the engine with a bunch of electrical tape wrapped around.

usually bolts up to the upper intake.

I ordered the piece today, engine is coming along nice and the other one is getting pulled tomorrow

dosent it bold up to the right side of the upper part of the manifold

it is a vacuum regulator solenoid, it controls the vacuum to the egr valve.
