Same exact this i was thinkin. lol I'm just gettin some stuff painted so I can get it inside and out of the shop. I'm sooooo tempted to buy those rockers used. I know i said i wouldn't, but there's a used set of cranes on ebay with 5 days left and it's at $26 right now. Just seems risky. Anyone ever had problems buying used ones?
If you decide that you want new Cranes, be sure to check out other sellers. I like Summit because they have decent prices, fast shipping and great customer service but they are not always the cheapest.
Amazon (yes, Amazon) has the Crane pedestal rockers for almost $40 less than Summit, $50 less when you figure in the free shipping at Amazon. I always check there before buying anything expensive from the traditional performance stores. It is hit or miss but I find a deal at Amazon often enough to make it worthwhile. The downside is that the description or picture is often sketchy but I do the basic research at Summit/Jegs first and then try the part number at Amazon. Shipping at Amazon is slower but it's usually cheap or sometimes free, depending on whether it's through one of their vendors or a direct Amazon sale.

Yea, I've had bad experience with amazon vendors. lol Pretty much take a picture of something brand new and then send you something that looks like ****. But I'll check it out anyways. I'm gunna msg this guy on ebay today and ask him how many miles are the rockers, he has pictures and they look good, but you can't really tell till you put them in.

In this case, they are definitely new and directly from Amazon and returns should be no problem if you don't like what you get. $204 shipped from Amazon vs. $252 shipped from Summit. If the pedestal Cranes are actually what you want and you want them new, I don't think you'll find a much better price.
Here they are. Wrong picture and wrong description but the right part number:
Amazon.com: Crane 44746-16 Energizer Pedestal Mount Roller Rocker Arm ? Pack of 16: Automotive: Reviews, Prices & more

A little update.
I pulled the heads, to find some rust :(
On a lighter note:
Only one cylinder had the damage, the rest look good. Not sure what the shop is gunna do. Guna bring it this oming up week prolly. I'm hopin he can just do something with that one cylinder. But idk, I've never done this stuff before. Anyone know what there gunna do and how much it's gunna run me?

Was the spark plug missing from that cylinder? Are you able to turn the crankshaft? If so, you should spray that one cylinder with A LOT of WD-40 and rotate the engine like 250 times. You might (key word might) want to take some 400 grit sand paper to the cylinder.
Just be sure to take a shop vac to that cylinder after you clean it up.

Kinda sorta, but it's hard for me to build a motor on a budget since it is the heart of the truck after all and i want it done right. A little no pic update, lol ordered springs, new bolt kit, and heat spacer today. Gunna call Tommy tomorrow and talk with him about the block and then bring it to him to work on it as soon as i get a chance. Then i worked on the truck a little today. I tore the dash apart a couple weeks ago and re-pinned the wire for the tach and today i went and got a couple new bulbs i needed for the dash then popped it all back together. I pulled the following bulbs out though:
4hi
4lo (manual t-case now)
ABS
Brake
Airbag
ABS and brake b/c the solid axle swap is directly after this and i'm either puttin a 9" or 44 in the back.
Airbag b/c sometimes the damn thing wouldn't quit blinking.

The airbag light circuit is monitored and has a backup tone if it is pulled or burns out. You will now periodically get a series of 25 long beeps instead. Way more annoying than the light IMO.

Caus Idk where there at. lmao
I bought the trck with it like this. It's not bad but it always blinks a bit when i first start it. And if I ever mess with the little key thing for the pass. airbag it goes crazy!
UPDATESSS!!! Let's raise the total to......
$1864 :)
Dropped the motor off at the shop today, rebuilding the bottom end competely.
Re-using piston and cam and crank.
And I got the heat spacer in too.

Using all new bolts, can't remember the brand name i went with. Not gunna use ARP though, I'm not changing anything in the bottom end so I won't need them.
How am i wasting money?
It's gunna be a rebuilt motor.
It's being done at a very reliable shop that's been around for about 15 years and they've always done quality work.
Plus I don't have the money for a boar. Stupid college...
Edit: Also talked to Remmy (motor guy) today and we're gunna do an adjustable timing set and adjust it 3* for better low end power to coincide with the 1.7 rockers. Only $95 and no labor cost. Can't beat that :)
