alpine speakers/amp installed

...and my ears are ringing right now. everything's done.

i'm impressed with the 57ls's up front (the type R components). nice sound even at high volumes.

the coaxials in the rear still aren't doing it for me. they sound a lot better now that they are amped, but they are just overshadowed completely by the front speakers.

the amp is huge (pics later, camera out of service right now), so i'll have to figure out the box later, we put it on the back wall.

i'm very happy with the amp and front speakers, however...if i had to do it again i would do what some of you recommended and:

no rear speakers, take out the housings

buy a nice set of components for the front. the one's i got were nice, like $250-300 in a store and $120 on ebay, but i would go a level up and spend maybe $250 on ebay (like a set of $500 JL audio's)

use the same amp i have, but bridge the front and rear speaker channels into 2 for twice the power to the fronts. (that is how bridging works, right?)

...and just have the sub and front speakers. you really don't need the rear if you have a set of front that can handle the power. i don't even need the rear in mine now, and will probably be taking them out and selling them to make room for a box. i'll wait until after i get the amp to see if i wanna upgrade the fronts, i might not need that much power....

great to see you're pleased with the front speakers!! dont feel bad about the rear, like you said, you could always take them out and sell them... or put them in a second car if you have one. once the sub is back there, you'll notice them even less, if at all, lol. anyhow, good to hear they're working great for you!

sub gets here when i figure out if i'm dipping into savings or waiting until next month. box is going to be expensive.....

alpine's are on ebay right now. anybody wants'em from here, lemme know, i'll sell'em for $75 plus actual shipping instead of $70 plus $18.

why will a box be so expensive? MDF is only like $23 a sheet, all you ahve to give me is enough good beer to last the time it takes to build it

If I recall it's like 8 or 10 bucks for a 2x4 sheet of 3/4" MDF. Much easier to handle.
