single 10" in reg cab = not bad

This is the first time I've had a reg cab truck, so when I put in a $100 ten-inch sub I was quite impressed with the bass. It was def. loud enough for a reg cab since there's no back seat blocking the air movements of bass.

The only prob. is that I was using an elemental designs (small-box) e10k in a ~1ft^2 sealed cube-shaped box. The appropriately sized box gave the sub enough space to really move on those low notes. Getting a truck box might mean losing volume; thus sacrificing sound quality (and yes, for me...that's important).

Also leaving the (obvious-looking) subwoofer box above the transmission tunnel around where a center console would go, would be nothing short of a "steal me!" beacon.

Let me see if I can take a quick pic so you guys can see...

so...if you were a thief, and you walked past this truck after hearing 'bump' from this vehicle while driving around, would you suspect this to be a subwoofer box?

You just have to turn the bass down whenever you get near any place where your truck is going to be parked. And don't bump near where you live.

Cover it in matching tan fabric, tweed, or vinyl and I bet it would be hardly noticeable to those looking for a quick steal...

ya, thats pretty noticeable. Mine is pretty much only visible if you look in through the windshield. And there is about 5" of each sub visible. I guess I better get all my windows tinted 5% including the windsheild. lol

My friend wanted to see how loud his 10 was on my amp....It was a 400 watt at 2 ohm mono amp, so it had PLENTY of power to put to it......

And it POUNDED, it was a pyle that he has had in his room forever, a box JUST like that one, freaking pounded....

My Kicker 10 fits snugly behind the seats, sitting right in the middle and visible between my buckets. and the 350W amp I got is plenty for inside the cab, or within 10 feet of the truck. I think I won't be worried about stuff gettin stolen once I tint the windows, even though you could look through the front windshield and the sub would be staring you in the face.

Stay focused!!!!

That looks nothing like a s...u....b oh wait. Man, i dont know about that it does kinda say "want me"? I used to have a 98 reg cab splash. I tried at first to put it behind seat but if you didnt have a midget riding with you their knees were buried in the glovebox. I dont have a pic but i put it in the middle and had fabric in front of the box pulled tight but not touching the sub. you could still tell there was something back there but since it was all "hidden" i think someone that would have wanted to steal it didnt know what they were going after. The thing is, it doesnt matter what you do if someone wants what you have they are coming in regardless. I agree dont bump in areas that might be in danger. Or when you come into your own neighborhood. Or get a decent alarm i just seen a link for a commando for 60 bucks.
