those are nice but arent super loud. If hes looking for something to really bump id consider a 8" kicker l5 or l7 solobaric(if it would fit)

To power those subs properly you need an amp that will do 800W RMS. for something quality look at alpine, or kicker, or pioneer premier. You could also think about buying TWO 400W RMS mono blocks and have one amp per sub. If you want to go with 2 amps I think MTX amps can be had for a decent price..

What is your maximum mounting depth? What sort of net volume are we talking about? Ported or sealed? Are you just looking to rattle windows or add smooth bass to your stereo?

Since you are looking at shallow mounts you may want to go off the beaten path and look at Tang Band's shallow mounts.

my brother has two 10" kickers with a 800watt peak kenwood amp in his ex cab.

they sound really nice, just remember you have to build or buy boxes that are close the what the speakers call for.

if i was you i would just get an mtx thunderform box, i have one and its great for what it is.
