Just picked up a Pioneer GM-D7400M on the weekend and have yet to pick up a sub.

I'm wanting to go with a sealed box, something that hits tight and as accurate as possible. I listen to metal, and lots of '90's grunge.

Some specs on the amp are as follows:

Mono bass amplifier w/ maximum output power of 1 x 400W (4Ω) or 1 x 800W (2Ω).

RMS power is 1 x 200W (20Hz - 240Hz/4Ω) or 1 x 400W (50Hz / 2Ω) with a frequency response of 10 - 240 Hz.

The unit has less than 0.3% distortion and signal-to-noise ratio of more than 80 dB. It has a bass boost frequency of 50Hz (0/6/12 dB) with a low pass frequency of 40 - 240 Hz (-12 dB/oct).

Those stats are from the web and mean very little to me. I just want it to sound as good as possible.
I have an ext cab '09, and need suggestions on fuse and wire gauge suggestions, as well as what sub will be the tightest sounding, and best match for the amp I've bought.

I'm going to be using my existing HU also. Again, any all suggestions welcome. Also, is it a good amp? Anyone using it?

I know you get what you pay for - and I'm willing to spend a bit extra on the sub because of the deal I got with the amp. I want the best sounding single 10" in a sealed box that is shallow.

However, again, it has to sound tight and as 'punchy' as possible. That's the goal. No muddy loose frequency here - I want it to sound accurate. The price I can worry about when purchased.

I need advice on a direction to start looking for a sub that takes advantage of everything the amp has to offer.

Idealy, I'd like to pay no higher than $300-350 CDN.

 

Do a 4 gauge amp install kit, and make sure to buy a 4ohm DVC sub or a 2ohm SVC if the sub you want only comes as SVC.
