Just bought new wheels and tires, a question though...

Well after all the researching on this site about wheels and tires and looking through many of your pics I was able to take the plunge today and make the purchase for my own truck.

I decided on 33"x12.5 BFG MT's wrapped on polished aluminum 15x8 Eagle Alloy 058's with 3.25 of backspace.

Question: I live in Canada, and its just about snow season here. Am I going to wreck these new wheels by running them on these salted winter roads? Will I be okay as long as I regularly take my truck to the carwash and pressure wash them?

Also any advice on how to keep these wheels nice and shiny and new looking would be appreciated. Thanks for all your help guys. Sorry no pics yet...

Put a layer of vaseline on em that will keep the salt off, and come off fairly Easy in spring. Mud terrains aren't the best on slushy stuff on the roads after the plow, maybe you should get all terrains as well on a cheap set of steelies.

Yes, make sure to clean them off fairly regularly too. This is what happened last year when I didn't clean them all winter

OH NOOO blackedge thats not what I want to see!!! Did that come off and were you able to get them back looking shiny again?

Should I really put vaseline on them or was that a joke, ive never heard that. Wouldnt everything like sand, dirt and salt get all gunked up on them? Cant I just get them clear coated or somthing?

Man this doesnt sound good, and I thought the consensus was that polished was better than chrome finish.

Oh and thank you Zach I just read your how-to and bookmarked it. That will def come in handy. You guys are seriously such good dudes on this site... always answer my questions. Glad to be a member here!! Thanks again!

No prob...

chrome is good from some things but chromed steel rusts bad in salt.. and chrome alum is very brittle...

yes you could have had them cleared but need to do that before there ever mounted.. also usually after clearing them the center cap will not fit threw the hole good because of the paint adding thickness.
