I've got brand new factory wheels, have some questions though...

I've got a brand new set of 4 rims. I'm pretty sure they are ranger rims, but they might be explorer rims.

The questions I have are:

1) What year vehicle(s) did these rims come on?
2) What was the factory tire size provided by ford with these wheels? (I think it is P235/75R-15 but I'm not exactly sure)
3) Will the center cap shown work with them? I'm fairly certain that this is the right cap, but I want to know for sure. I think I need to use the original lug nuts to make it work.

If anyone has these wheels on there truck can you chime in?

They came on some 98 and 99 4WD Rangers as well as some Exploders.

I believe the caps you have are 08+ caps. The ones StxDangerRanger posted are correct for the Exploders, but I'm not sure if they were the same ones used on the Rangers. Ford used those caps on 2 or 3 different styles of wheels, but they also used different caps sometimes on the Rangers than they did on Exploders with the same rims.

I just made a video. I took one of the lugnuts off my 04 (which is where I got that cap) and I think it will work. The nut sits in the hole of the rim and the edge of the cap fits nicely against the wheel surface. Check out the video.

My mom has those rims on her '98 expo and those style caps (All chrome looking ones). Its what came factory on them. Factory size was the one you mentioned.

They are at least as old as 2004, because that's the truck I got them off.

They used to be chrome, but I took the chrome off chemically and painted them silver.

The 04 has a 1/2 inch deep, 1/4 inch wide crack that goes 180 degree's around the inside of the left front tire. It looks like a dry rot. The tires have 46,000 miles on them. I could not believe it. It was on the inside of the tire where it almost meets the rim (on the back side). I can literally see the cords the crack is so deep. I am amazed it just did not pop. My plan was to go buy a set of 4 goodyear wrangler's and put them on the wheels you see above, and then install those. I just haven't had time to take the factory rims off yet. These wheels (in the photos) are brand new, still in boxes with factory packaging. I thought someone on here might have done this before.

Damn, sounds crazy. But I meant like why not just go take off one wheel and then mock up one of your new wheels just just two lugs to see how it fits and everything. Probably be quicker than waiting for a reply anyway

your probably right but I didn't feel like working on that anymore today.

I found this catastrophe waiting to happen because I was under the truck working on the 4 ballasts I have installed on top of the wheel liners. I'm swapping in projectors and testing them, and the HID ballasts/harness have been acting up. I got these ballasts and harness in 2007. Then I found out I had broken the regulator on my monster air compressor. It's just been a bad day.

Most of the caps on the Rangers and Exploders will interchange, as they all use the same lugs and clearance dimensions. Those caps actually look better, IMO, than the ones that originally came on them. I'm not sure if the caps were used on other rims, but they are definitely the same ones on the 08+ Ranger spit-spoke rims.

My mom had those on her old '98 Explorer. I'm sure I've seen the caps you have on there before... don't see why they wouldn't work.
