Gum on wheels.

Gum on wheels.
i did my breaks today, and noticed my driverside wheel has a lil gum on iot near the center cap, i tried everything short of a screw driver to get it off, yet have been unsuccessful, on closer inspection, it almost looks like the clear coating they put on the wheel is popping off.
its the discolored parts... around the center cap... this bothers me greatly cause my wheels are PERFECT except for this and i noticed it right away...

GooGone is a relatively benign solvent. It shouldn't harm the clear coat.
A more aggressive commercial solvent would be Goof Off. It's a latex paint stripper, but it also covers gum. Really strong stuff, but I used it on the painted finish on my last Ranger, and it didn't hurt the finish. It may have softened the clearcoat though, or just by my rubbing I put fine scratches in the finish.
Also try mineral spirits or WD40. They will remove gum, and are obviously not very aggressive.
