Keeping Exhaust Tip Clean

how does everyone keep thier exhaust tip from rusting during the winter? im ocd when it comes to this if my truck is clean i like to keep it clean if its dirty i could care less but when it comes to cleaning and polishing everything the tip is hard cause it exits out before the rear wheel, i have a chrome tip and would not like to have it rust over the winter. any suggestions or places where i could possibly find a black tip to compliment the black wheels going on next week? haha thanks

I've never had a problem with a rusting tip. The old truck I hardly every washed, this truck gets washed about once every 2 weeks and I wash the tip when I wash the wheels but I don't do anything special...

its hard to keep chrome from rusting... once it gets chipped might as well throw it away because then it rusts from the inside out... my tips are Chrome as well and thats the reason why I keep my stock mudflaps on. But I use Bluemagic metal polish you can find it pretty much everywhere adn its pretty cheap

if it's chrome then it'll rust at some point no matter what, but you can keep it to a minimum. And the more times you polish it your actually removing some of the surface quality that protects it (go figure). But since you don't live where you have hellish winters I don't see how you'd have a problem with that with some regular washes and waxes. I had chrome exhaust tips for 4 years before they got too bad to repair. So I got stainless!

I always used steel wool and wax/polish to provide some protection after a regular wash to clean em off

i used steel wool and wd-40 to get the rust off the polish cleaner this morning to shine it it just gets small spots of rust when i dont wash it for like two weeks and i have had rain here lately and since the exit is right in front of the rear wheel everything splatters from the wheel but thanks for the tips

does anyone on here have a black tip? kinda like the rbp one but a smaller version not a seven inch diesel tip haha

I have dual stainless tips on my 06' Colorado...they pit like crazy....usually in the spring I go to town on them with Bar Keeper's Friend or Bon Ami....tooth brush, steelwool, and spic and span pads....to keep it nice, wax the pipe, and wash the pipe at least every 4-5 days.
