ran through some paint on road....oops

well, i was driving behind a big truck a week ago or so ago, and someone had dropped a dropcloth filled with white home-type paint on the road. the truck in front of me was too big, and i couldnt see that i was about to drive through it. the truck didnt swerve, so neither did i so now my tires have white paint inside of the treads (which wont wear off), and it spashed up the side of the truck too. i used some cleaner while the paint was still wet, and got a lot of it, but not all of it. how am i suppose to remote it? i tried 3m bug and tar remover, and i also found some 3m adhesive/something remover and neither one of them worked. i dont want to try like goof-off or anything cuz that will strip my factory paint. can i use paint thinner on my tires? will that hurt them? thanks guys!!!

Like you said dont use anything a painter would use on a house for common sense reasons. If you dont find anything (I hope your sitting down) you may have to wet sand a little.

Wet sand, or if you have a very steady hand, you can try a razor-blade and try to chip it off.

Don't worry about the tires, I am sure road-wear [rocks, sand, gravel] will take care of the inside.

On the tires I would try a commercial tire cleaner and a stiff brush and lots of elbow grease. You dont want to use any solvents on them as they tend to dry out the rubber.

How bad is it on the body? if its just splatter you may be able to use some meguiars step 1 paint cleaner. If that does not get it off then I would go to step 2 polish. If its thickly coated then wet sanding my be the only way to get it off. If it was a water based paint you might try soaking some towels with water and leaving them on the paint for a few days keeping them wet at all times and then trying to wipe it off.

Do not wetsand, or anything else that is abrasive, unless you tried everything else. I would start with Meguair's Scratch X first. It removes almost every contaimenent you can name, even some paint embedded in my fiance's bumper, and even some fresh asphalt thanks to the great Oklahoma highway department.

Use Gasoline and scrub hard. My friend and I in his Dodge Dakota were out screwin around and they were painting the road lines to my friends house way out the road. So we passed the big ol' machine on the way out there, w/o having to cross wet paint. But on the way back, some ******** biker managed to get us trapped so that we had to drive through the road paint. We didn't notice for an hour int he 75 degree temps that there were now big ol' paint streaks up the side of his truck. So at the next job(im a landscaper) I grabbed some gasoline and a rag and cleaned off his truck while he finished mowing a yard. It took a lotta scrubbing, but did come off.

If it's just house paint...it's probably latex based. My mom got some of the yellow paint that they spray on the roads on her van....came right off with a power washer.

if it was a house paint, then it was probably latex based, which should clean up with soap and water when it is wet. If it has dried, I don't imagine it would be that hard to get off of your finish on the truck. Latex doesn't stick well to glossy surfaces at all. Maybe try a powerwash and some elbow grease. Good luck with it.
