Rim cleaning help

I have a set of American racing ar23's for my ranger. When I got them the clearcoat was already peeling off. So I went ahead and stripped the rest of the clearcoat off. But once I did that, it left some dark areas on the rim. Just wondering if there's a way to clean this off.

You could try a heavy duty aluminum cleaner but it all depends on what actually caused the stain and did it etch its way into the aluminum. Also, there is an aluminum cleaner/polish called Semi-Chrome, use is sparingly and with a power ball. Might take a few applications and no guarantee.

There is always power coating.

Did you polish or rub to remove the clearcoat? Because you should not get any black residue if it is clear coated.
