i love tar on my paint

so they redid the roof on my house...well they're still in the process....I was at work and the Blue 01 Ranger was sitting outside. I guess they sprayed on a layer of tar with something similar to a paint gun, becuase when i came home i had a nice thin film of tar all over my truck.

Broke out the clay bar and it came right off....it was just a little time consuming. Now she's in the garage (since they're done with the garage) with a cover on her. Paint's nice and smooth again. Just wanted to share, I think the clay bar is a better option then kerosene.

Can someone explain a lil bit about a claybar? I think I *once* found this product at Napa, and I have no idea how to use it, what it does, when to use it.

Thanks,

Aaron

If you run your hand over the hood of your truck....and it feels rough, then its time for the clay bar. It comes with a type of spray wax, or you can use a different kind...i use the quick detailer from Meguiars. The spray wax keeps it from sticking to the paint....sort of like a lubrication between the bar and the paint. they clay will actually pull the dirt and roughness from the paint. seal it with a coat of wax and your paint will feel and shine like glass. That's the jist of it. totally worth the money.

Thanks for the link. I'm gonna try to save a few bucks and use the glacial silt behind my house. It's finer than clay bar :-) And if i scratch my paint i'll sue the forest service.

I'dve snapped when I saw it, but probally wouldn't say anything if I was able to get it off myself. I bought the stuff to claybar my truck over 2 months ago and haven't done it yet.
