... I dread to even ask... I forgot to change my boots from work one day and ended up wiping a MASSIVE 6 inch oil stain near the gas pedal... I think I've tried everything... any suggestions?
Liquid Dawn...they use it to clean crude oil off animals following oil spills, so it should be gentle enough not to screw up the carpet while at the same time breaking up the oil to wash out with a pressure hose, etc.

Ok so I tried the liquid dawn, no result just lifted a bit but still a dark stain... on tan carpet its really visible.. I tried carpet cleaner, it lifted a bit more.. but still seen.. I think I'm S.O.L. and I'll have to break down for the new carpet.
one of my buddies made a paste outta oxyclean and used that put it on and let it sit a few hours then he shampooed the carpet and it came out to the point where its barely noticble
try http://www.sterlingsmagic.com/content.cfm?cont_uid=2, i bought a car from a mechanic that didn't worry about getting his light grey seats/carpets greasy and used this stuff and it was like new. that was 10 years ago and have been using it ever since.
