5 speed tranny problems
Howdy y'all!! Hope y'all are having a good day so far. I need to see if I can pick some ones brain for a minute.. Hope someone can help me... My slave cylinder has gone completely out. I don't have the money to replace it right now and I won't put it in the shop I would do it at school so that I have the tranny jack and the lift and all that to help make the job easier. I am in between jobs right now so replacing it wouldn't be an option. The truck is a 95 with the 2.3 SOHC. It is not wanting to go into gear at all. To get it to go into gear, I and having to punch it into 2nd and kick it into 3rd, and so on. Yes, I am aware of the fact that doing that will ---- up my tranny but its the only way I could get it home. That's why its parked right now and not moving. I am a country boy and there fore, if I can't afford to fix something right away, I "redneck" rig it until I can get it fixed. Is there any "redneck" riggin I can do to it to get the truck drivable again until I get my first check at the new job and get caught up on my bills? Or maybe a type of fluid I can put in it to get the slave cylinder back working again TEMPORILY?? Please help. And info is helpful at this point... Thanks in advance...

It's DOT3 fluid not clutch fluid. When they go the only fix is replacement. I spent $200 on parts, go to rock auto as they tent to be cheaper. I replaced my clutch at the same time I did the slave. Slaves normally run about $40-$50. It's the labour that costs so much. Mine was $550 plus taxes in labour.

Best bet is to replace. Morris has it right the slave isnt that much. I have one sitting in the garage for when mine goes. Was I think $45.
You could have somebody press the clutch pedal in while you are looking through the inspection cover and see if the slave is moving at all. I still say try to do the proper bleeding method (removing the master and bench bleeding it) You might get lucky and get a couple extra days out of it.
