99 ranger 4.0 AT. ex. cab 4x4 rear end

1990 & up 4.0-liter Rangers. These are ALWAYS equipped with the 8.8-inch 28-spline rear axle

for sure is this my rear end.i had it replaced a couple yrs ago and the tag is gone. i do remember i think it 373 ratio. not positive. i believe i need another one. 150,000 miles. runs strong still except whinning. seems to be getting worse. can anyone help me out with any info i might need. i'm slightly disabled from an accident at work 5 yrs ago so i am extremly limited on funs. ( money). thank you much.

your 99 will have 8.8 28 spline axle yes.

You can look on your door jam and see what gear ratio you have. Search around for the chart. I know therangerstation has it in their tech stuff

hmmm the should be a axle column. It would have a code that then translates to axle ratio. the only other way you could do it is put the rear of the truck on jackstands, put it in neutral, mark the tire and driveshaft. Then watch the driveshaft while making 1 full rotation of the tire.

a 2 wheel drive ranger will work just make sure it is in fact an 8.8. An explorer will also work with some modification to i believe the spring perches and the shock mounts.
