if you want 100 %, get a mini spool. powertrax dissengage when turning to allow them to turn at different rates. then when straight again, it will lock back. powertrax will make a ractheting sound while turning , and a pop when it engages.

So when offroading, going through that hole it'll stay locked, even if one wheel was off the ground or bottomed out, its not going to let the wheel off the ground just spin, and the other not spin?
Its a every day driver that I want it for, so sounding like this would be better than one that doesn't disengage far as having to buy new tires and such.

yea it will stay locked as long as your foot is on the pedal. the torque fromt the engine forces it to lock.

How do you know that I have a 28 spline, I did swap the axle out a while back?

because unless it was an explorer i doubt you have one. the odds of getting a 31 pline ranger axle are rare.

So no way of know really other than tearing I guess right? Also its drum brakes, and I thought the explorers had discs mostly, so your probably right. I would guess the 28, but didn't know if there was a way to tell without guessing, but not being the original axle, I guess there isn't.

Any suggestions on the best place to snag one of these lockers?

look on the differential, there is a number on the axle. If i remember correctly its on a little tag. Or it could be stamped . Post the number and someone will know what it is .
