front differential relocation.

Hello, I have a2002 ranger 4x4 I'm trying to lower my front diff. to match my 4 inch lift. does anybody offer a bracket kit to drop without changing lower control arms? Thanks rocket-ricky

Not sure what is available now, when I did my lift about 4 years ago, SuperLift had Front and Rear Lift Kits or both if needed. Check them out and see if they are still available, if not see if you can check out what was in the kit and see if you can find one used, they do pop up one in a while.

If you are like me I didn't like the stacked blocks suggested by Superlift for the rear and went with a Skyjacker Rear Spring with enough lift to eliminate the rear blocks and different shocks so the rear kit wasn't needed.

Thanks scrambler82 they do offer a kit but I was trying to keep cost down and don't really want to switch to coil overs. It looks like there's about two inches you could drop front differential I was wondering if there were any brackets available. I may try to make some, still considering thanks for the help. rocket-ricky

Sorry for the late reply.

Ok on the SuperLift cost... yes it is costly !
Maybe you can find some parts used, should be something around.
Why no lower control arms ?
Im thinking you can't make the drop of the diff without changing the control arm geometry and still be able to align the front end.
If it could have been done the manufacturers of lift kit would have done it back when the original designs hit the street.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to try and redesign the work of engineers, no matter how bad you may think it is.

Good Luck on your search and keep your eyes open for used lifts.

morning scrambler82, the problem with front torsion bar suspension is the torsion bars are about two inches under inner c-v joint. when you change torsion keys it pulls the axle out to maximum length and the inner knuckle binds on the outer c-v housing for the joint. I have been real busy lately and haven't looked into, but it appears with the super lift kit you get different front spindles with the kit. I may have no choice but to switch to coil overs. I did by a stick of delrin to make some bushings for the differential. I can drop front differential about a inch by making bushing with off-set mounting holes, that may be enough to get c-v axle not to bind. I am a retired master truck, auto and motorcycle mechanic and have my own lathe to make bushings. I will try this first and let you know if it doesn't I will be forced to switch to coil over style. Thanks for the input rocket-ricky

What 4" lift do you have? You mentioned torsion keys, is that what you're referring to?

Torsion keys are the WRONG way to "lift" a truck. Nothing you do will keep your CV's from binding if you're running maxed out torsion keys. The ONLY option you have to lift this truck is with the Superlift kit, or a 3" body lift. No amount of fabrication on your end will make your current setup work. Take the keys out or crank them down and then install a body lift or real suspension lift.

That is why I went coil-over in the front... eliminated the T-Bars completely... works great.

I am not sure if the diff is lowered in a 4.5-5" Lift from SuperLift, but the replacement spindles are what is needed to lift the truck; even with the Coil-Overs.

Good Luck on the Diff Drop Kit !

Hey scrambler82, I contacted super-lift and they will only delete the rear lift blocks and u-bolt kit from there ranger super-lift kit. It only drops kit price 90.00 dollars. I already have super-lift shocks & boots, with rear springs and shackles. There kit does relocate front diff. and lower control arms mount positions with bracketry. This system retains torsion bars. still searching, I thought I saw a bracket kit some where for about 500.00 now I can't find again, you gotta love the world wide web thanks rocket-ricky.

Keep your eye open, a lift kit always pops up !

Did you check the Classifieds, here on the Site.

Funny how you see these Kits used all the time, until you need one !

Later and Luck with your search.
