Icon4 Loud squeal/screech in front end....help/ideas?

The past two times i've gone off roading some pretty loud squeal/screech starts going on on the front drivers side of the truck. come to think of it, last week when i was back in 2wd and driving on the road it was doing it for a while but it was right after i left the trail, then eventually died out. The bellows boots aren't clamped anymore on one end on the inner tie rod, would it be that theres some crap that got in there or something? the noise eventually goes away after a while, sounds like a rear drum being stuck but this is coming from the front end, almost positively.

any ideas what i should take a look at? I don't want to waste time tearing into things that won't explain or solve the problem.

Thanks guys

it goes away sometimes but then i could just be driving it through the trail and it will disappear on its own...my cv boot is torn too so it might be that too?

its weird though it doesn't do it when im on the road just on the trail. did it once on the road but thats when i was leaving the trail. i stopped to see if something got caught or something was binding but it was fine then it went away further down the road

The large excluder seal on the inside of the steering knuckle may be dry and/or dusty. Squealing from a dry excluder is a known problem on 4x4 SLA Rangers and usually occurs at very low speeds. If that's the source of your problem, cleaning and regreasing the seal with high temp wheel bearing grease should take care of it. If it's old, a replacement seal might be a good idea but it also needs to be greased before being put into service.

My first thought was the dust/exluder seals. Had to replace those on my Ranger and my Stepdad's Explorer.

Something like this.

thanks man I believe that is the source of the sound. Would a job like that be difficult or simple would you say? and is it bad to drive around like that? Im driving 1000 miles one-way to the dunes in a month...
