$400 is insane. $1000 is a joke.

I paid $350 for my FX4 Level II 31-Spline 8.8 w/ Torsen. It had 110k on it. Other guys get them for the same price with half the mileage.

A regular old 28-spline Ranger 8.8 should run you under $300 and even then it should have less than 50k on it. If I could do it again I would go to my local Pull-A-Part and get a $100 8.8 and strip it and rebuild it.

really I'm gunna look into it more but that's all I have found so far. I have a long bed regular cab can I use a extended cab driveshaft. are they on the same frame ? How much does it cost to rebuild them ? Im thinking the rebuilding would be the clutches but the torsen i thought didnt have the clutchs is what ive read thats why is better. If i got an a 8.8 regular with 410s i think i would just put a locker in it instead of paying to rebuild it but still not sure all depends on the pricing ..

Thanks
Kevin

Did you have ls before your locker or open dif?? just wondering if offroad it made a difference worth it and if it wears your tires more . And how much was your locker system ? Was the install simple like the lock right ? sorry about all the questions just trying to gather as much information as possible before summer so i can get this done and be happy with it .

thanks

Ok yeah you won't have to modify the driveshaft or anything. The frame/wheelbase is irrelevant. The Ford 8.8 and 7.5 are interchangeable out of any Ranger 93+.

Yeah the Torsen LS is gear type, not clutches so no rebuilding required.

The rebuild kit for the Trac-Lok is only $70. A new locker is $300+ plus install.

If you get an 8.8 with LS in it already you would have to completely take it apart to remove it before you could put in a locker. The lock-right will go right in if you have open diff.

My Ranger was an open dif first. I drove other vehicles with a l/s. I think that Ford has one of the worst l/s out there.

I have over 30k on my Duratracs, still looking great. I bought mine used for 300 bucks. Install was pretty straight forward.
