5spd auto dying I think

My trans is acting up pretty bad this week.I have a 99 with the 5 spd auto that I have already done the TransGo shift kit on and replaced all the valvebody gaskets about 15k miles ago. This it started shuttering very bad when going into 4th and 5th gears, sometimes it wont stop until I lift off the throttle.

Anyone ever had these symptoms with theirs? Any fix? I have no problem droppin the pan and workin on the valvebody again and I even have some brand new selenoids for the valvebody I never installed yet.

Is this just a matter of swapping converters or does the trans have to be pulled apart? I also have the leaking headgaskets and was going to just pull the heads with the motor in the truck but if I can fix the trans with a converter swap I will just pull the motor and rebuild it real quick and do the converter at the same time.

Can you get me a price on a "verter and maybe a bottle of that stuff? I have my Merkur ripped apart swapping heads and installing my SDS stand alone so I might have to limp this around for another week or so.

you should be able to get a stock converter for around 150 at the dealer i think.

i replaced mine a while back. not sure i had the same issue as you but i did notice a difference when i changed it.

Well I lost OD today and the O/D loite is flashing now. Shifts really hard into all other gears and downshifts hard too. Still sound like the 'verter? I think I will drop the VB and replace the VB gaskets and the shift selenoid and see what happens.

well I plugged my scanner into it and it said no codes.

But, the light wasnt flashing cuz I had turned the truck off and when I do that the light will stay off for a few miles and then start flashing again.Does the ecm not store trans codes? Should I just plug in and scan again when its running and the lite is flashing?

Update!! Trans still hasnt been fixed so I did the next logical thing......went off roading!!!

Well needless to say it was not a good day. I got into a pretty bad spot and blew up my front diff, snapped a front axle, lost a hub, popped a tire and killed the trans 100% now! Plus I bent the **** out of my winch mount tryin to pull myself out.

I will be pullin the trans out soon and am lookin for a good place to drop it off at for a rebuild.
