strange tranny problem?
hey guys, im somewhat new here so here goes
I'm a 17 year old high school student, currently doing DEP for the army,
anyways i have a 98 4.0l v6 ranger XLT, and the otherday on my way back from the airport on highway 495(massachusetts) my truck started to make a like bumping sort of feeling/sound like it was trying to upshift but couldnt, as it was already in 4th gear. This is at about 2.5-2.7k rpm at about 81ish mph.
It didnt sound good so i backed down a bit and cruised the rest of the way at like 79ish and didnt hear the sound, but on one other drive it happened again, it just seems strange as on the way back from a hunting trip in new hampshire I easily had my ranger doing 90-100mph, albeit a bit downhill but still.
Is this a tranny problem, or is 80-85 mph all the ***** my ranger has?
