Okay I i have another question ahout this subject. From what i have been told and remember by trying to remove the step bars. When your removed them. one bracket if welded to the frome and the other is just bolted on. Now Have you just kept that one bracket on the truck or welded/cut it off it off From what i could remember it is bolted and welded. maybe i am wrong. just thought i would ask what you all have done. When i seen it, it crossed my mind if it was welded and that is when i stoped and put everything back together. maybe it is a dumb question but hey....we are all rookies at one point and learn from our mistakes and others. thanks for the advice

These aren't OEM step bars are they?
If OEM, just get under the truck and look....towards the front, there's two 15mm nuts that need removed. If 4 dr, you'll have a total of four bolts that take a 15mm socket to remove in the rear. If 2dr, you'll have 2 nuts and bolts to remove per side, then you need to remove the bracket that is bolted to the truck. Once the bars are removed, get inside the truck and lift the carpet where your feet would be while driving or riding shotgun. Pop off the rubber grommet, and pull out the studs in which your bars bolt to. This way, you'll have any and all hardware off the truck so whoever you sell them to, will be able to bolt them on the truck without being left with two useless 6ft pieces of tin.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. aka Ford Factory Parts.
mkay..you've got a 4dr. Get under the truck and look at the back brackets....there's two bolts that go vertical and two bolts that go horizontal on the backside of the rocker. I suggest you just loosen the far front two nuts, then go and take out the horizontal bolts on the back bracket. Then hit the vertical ones. Loosen the fronts a little bit more, then slide the bar towards the rear of the truck, and when the rear bracket clears the holes in the rocker, your bar is now removed.

You got to the grommet under the carpet right? that bolt in there is your body bolt...don't remove that. Towards the outside of the truck from that bolt, but still in the 'hole in the floor' as that bolt, there'll be the bracket with the studs in it....and it just slides right out. Virtually effortless.

Okay...maybe I've not been successful at figuring out that trick yet....idk. And honestly, idc.
You're right....but it'll suck for the guy buying your old bars seeing as though he's got no way to mount the front....Believe me...it happens all the time. I had to deal with that with a set of bars.

I agree. I've only worked on the 2 door model but it has the same U-bolt. You can remove the U bolt from the bottom. You just fish it out of the big hole. Thats why one hole is bigger to fish it up through and over to the small hole.
