Whats the easiest way to get the fender badges off?

had my truck into my friends body garage the other day to put my new badges on. We had both badges off and then the new ones on in less then five minutes( even fixed my bumper).
first we took a putty knife and taped it up with some masking tape ( thus no scratching from the edges of the blade)
we then slow pulled the old badges off (we made sure we didnt brake them incease i want to use them for something)
as for the glue he had a "pin stripe eraser" that cleaned all the glue off and never damaged the paint
cleaned with some tip of cleaner he has to clean before painting then slaped the new badges on.
