3rd Brake Light

Will a "F250 F350 3rd Third Brake Light Lamp SuperDuty 05-08 OEM" replacement third brake light fit on 2004 rangers? I know the wiring is different because of the cargo light, but other than that it should fit right?

F250 F350 3rd Third Brake Light Lamp SuperDuty 05-08 OE : eBay Motors (item 200428162110 end time Mar-15-10 08:16:25 PDT)

Just want to make sure before I bid on it. From searching I found that some of them do, but just want to make sure this specific one does, I didn't find a "this fits this" all bundled into one source.

Yep it will fit. To get the cargo lights working all you need to do is run a wire from your dome light to the wire that goes to the cargo lights.

It's hard to tell if that's the rare one.... I wish those pics were better. But yes, the superduty ones will work. I'm running one and so are several members on here. I used to sell them.

Sweet, thank you. Apparently the guy has 10 available, and the cheapest I've seen around, so if anybody else needs, snag em up.
I just can't justify spending the 90-100 bucks on the LED smoke one yet

I'm just curious. Why do people want the super duty light? What makes it so special?

What would make it rare? They do something different on some?

Well, I just want something with a cargo light. I looked at one from a Mazda, and it looked old and faded... eww. This one looks new and clean.

The rare ones have almost a clear hazy look over the brake light part. If you want a pic of what I'm talking about, I can try and dig it up. It has the exact same part numbers as the regular ones, but it's different.

I was selling them for like $40 or $50... They're just rare seeing as how Ford can't even find the difference using a parts search.

Ah I see... well, I don't. If you can find that pic, I'll be able to see, haha. I'll probly pick this one up cuz it's cheap. The ugly mazda one was 37 shipped, this looks better and is 23 shipped.

Here is a LED one that takes the regular cargo bulbs for $45 shipped.

You can see the "clear haze" I'm talking about in this pic... Lemme find my comparison shot.

Ahh... I see now. Thanks for digging it up. Hmm, not sure if that one is the hazy one, you're right, the picture isn't all that great to see one way or another.

Im not sure what you mean about shinning bright white. It works just like the stock 3rd brake light. Its clear and when you hit the brakes the leds light up red and you just use the stock cargo lights.

The way they have the picture flashing kind of makes it look like the red part lights up white when the cargo lights light up.

Lol, well my ranger edge didnt come with them. I've got the pink wire in the harness behind the brake light so I'm pre wired for it but didn't actually get the lamp >.<

Wonder why they did that on the edges? Wire the truck for it but then back off on the actual light. Maybe they thought the solid red looked more sporty...

up to '03, only XLT's got cargo lamps. All others(XL, Edge) got the plain jane red one. But it's easily swappable. It's totally plug and play...just make sure you get the 3 bulb harness with your third.

ALL 04+ got all red's. It's missing the constant power wire up there and it's also missing map lights on the dome lights. I call this the cheapification of the Ranger. lol.

Here's another comparison between the up to 03 Ranger/up to 05 Sport Trac/up to 05 Super Duty third VERSUS 06+ Super Duty...

The 'iced' look provides ALOT brighter third brake light. It's ALOT more brilliant. Even more brilliant than the brake lights on the tails. And for the record, LED aftermarket thirds all look ricer to me.

maybe it's just a manufacturing screwup or a shotty batch. i wouldn't want that hazy one. it looks old.

"Haze" is totally the wrong word to describe it. I call it "ice". It's the same style lense you see on 04+ F150s....the red part looks like it's covered in ice. Not opaque red like stock rangers. The comparisons do the talking and show the differences. I've seen side by side comparos in person between the two and the 06+ SD blows the ranger/trac/older SD out of the water.

The reason for the rarity: ONLY 06+ Super Duty's have them. It is not available new from ford because the part numbers actually on the 06+ SD's lead you right back to same one found on Rangers/old SD's/sport tracs. I've tried to order one new from Ford for 2 years and even did some hardcore parts catalog/interchanges/part numbers digging and it always comes up with the same one found on rangers.
