2009 4.0L Idle Speed?
2009 4.0L Idle Speed?
So week 1 as a new 2009 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab with the 4.0L and I have a question?
What should my warm engine idle speed be? I have just over 10,000.
Mine seems to bounce between 1000 and 1250 rpms. I can be approaching a stop at say 25 MPH and pop the transmission into neutral and the revs will spike to 1500 and stay there until I come to a complete stop. It then rolls back to 1100-1250.
I can me rolling along at 35 MPH in OD, on a flat at about 12-1300 RPM, take my foot off the gas and pick up speed until I hit 1500 rpm.

i know mine sorry not 4.0 idles high when cold even while driving until the engine is warmed up in the mornings i leave and have 3 stop signs in a row and it will almost drive itself between them with out me ever hitting the gas lol
I had the local Ford dealer take a look at it under warranty. I wasn't crazy. They replaced the IAC (Idle Air Control Valve). It now idles at 750-800 and it doesn't feel like it wants to jump away a stop.
Thanks for the input.
