i have a 2000 4.0 4x4. the tranny is stuck in 1st gear. no matter if i move the shifter the tranny stays in first gear. it will only got into park and 1st. the linkage moves to all positions but the tranny goes to 1st gear. no matter if linkage is in r-n-d-2-1. and when its in park it will only rev to 3k and it feels like it has a load on it.

 

it will only rev to 3k in park as it is anyways. check your fluid level. and is there noise coming from the trans when you shift or drive?

 

no noise it runs good other then it is in first gear lol. fluid is good as far as i can tell sence i cant put in in (n). it has me lost. its not like ir goes into reverse and theres nothing there like when tranny goes out. as soon as i move shifter out of park it goes stright to drive.
