Auto-Dim/ auto lamps Mirror Troubleshooting

I installed the mirror and everything was working fine, until I was driving down the road and my headlights, runningn lights and dash went black. After I pulled over and cleaned my britches, I slid the switch on the mirror all the way to the left and tried turning on the headlights with the regular switch and they worked fine. I was pulling into my neighborhood and was curious, so I turned the mirror switch back on and turned the old switch off, and they worked.

The next time I drove in the dark, I thought I'd try using the mirror set up again since I could use the old switch if anything went wrong, well the cut out again.

IDK what the issue is, all of my connections are secure, to the best of my knowledge, and I used the right relays and wires. Any help would be much appreciated.

Obviously all your connections aren't secure, I would go over the wiring again.

The connections are fine, but I may have a faulty plug that goes into the back of the mirror. There's a clicking sound when I adjest the mirror and if I move it too quickly, the lights will go out.

Thanks for your help 04.

Does the clicking noise sound like its coming from the relays? I can hear mine click when I move the switch. Are you sure you don't have some of the wires backwards?

It does sound like its coming from the relays.

What do you mean by backwards?

Like 2 wires switched. If the relays are turning on that means the mirror is working fine, it has to be something to do with the wiring.

sounds like you might have the trigger wire on the relay hooked to the wrong post.

Pardon my ignorance, but which one's the "trigger wire", the purple/white wire?

It sounds if the are working intermitenly. If they are working at all, then you dont have any wires crossed. It has to be a loose wire that is causing it. Also check your ground because the auto lights switch to ground so make sure you have a good ground for the mirror.

Here is something to help diagnose... When the lights are cutting out, is the green light still on on the mirror? If it is, then you know its not the mirror or mirror wire harness. You should then check your trigger wire that you connected to the mirror harness that runs down to the relays and any wiring for the relays.

If it turns off as well, then I would focus your attention on your mirror, mirror wire harness and all the connections to the mirror wire harness.

In other words, I would go with what was stated above, go over all your splicing and connections again.
