i was just screwing around, so! i wanted to put some nice driving lights in my grill, so it still looks stockish... i chose IPF's 968 driving lights, they come with a 55w bulb installed, and an additional 100w bulb, and the lights are designed with a dual reflector, so they work as a flood and spot at the same time... EXTREMELY BRIGHT and does a good job... this is the second set i have owned, i had a set on my f-250 and they worked awesome...

so i decided i would install them and put them behind the grill (like i said) and on the cross member at the bottom, and just infront of the rad... the only problem was, this cross member was way too low for the lights to be installed it blocks roughly the bottom half of the light... so i went to a local steel manufacture, where i bought 2 pieces of 2"x4" box steel, with 1/8th wall, drilled 2 holes in the bottom of each, which i used to bolt through the cross member, using only stainless steel hardware, and 1 hole through the top, where i bolted the light. i also preped the metal with varsol, and sprayed it with trimclad rust paint...

mount the switch? I'm gonna do this two as soon as the weather warms up

is the light output worth it after the grill blocks some.

 

Dude that looks so sweet!! I need to do this badly. Only thing stopping me from doing this mod is finding a suitable place for a switch.

 

yeap, it's still better than nothing, i would say the grill probably blocks about 30% which is a lot... but i'm not planning on using these lights ALL that often... and i can always take the grill off if i'm going to need to use the lights... it's 4 bolts and 2 clips... SIMPLE

where i have the switch right now works... but it's not my first choice... like i said, it's going to be removed and a custom insert for the pocket under my head unit will be installed...

 

The honeycomb grille would be much better, Boo to the 07's.....LOL

i know eh! sadly though, they don't make the full honey comb grills for my truck :( i am going to possibly get a custom grill, one that will block less of the light... not sure what though, yet... i'm also debating putting a bull bar on the front, and will probably end up putting the lights on that, if i get one...

 

not to thread jack but i got a quick question.... could i tap into my lower valance fogs with some kcs or something... i would like to use the factory relay.. maybe put a bigger one in or something??.... btw it looks sick and makes me wanna do it even more!!!!!

 

the way the IPF system is set up, if you wire it correctly, the switch only works when the high beams are on... i didn't want to do this, i did mine so that they come on when i turn the park lights (and the switch is "on") you could hook the wire up to the fog light lead, and hide the button under the dash, in the "on" position...

 

I've wanted to do this for some time but my stock 09 comes with the tow package and a second small radiator on the head panel so i think its in the way of were the lights would go. has anyone looked into this problem.

 

I saw one of these on a 150, i have never seen one for a ranger but I say try and have one custom made (an idea anyway)

 

that would look sick on a ranger, and i would totally go back to the better looking H-bar grill, if i did that... but too much work...

 

Someone on here modded a grille to look just like that. Turned out really good

 

any recollection of who it might have been? i am thinking about doing that now... DSG H-bar with spots in them... mmmmm sexy

 

Nice light setup. How sturdy is the place where you mounted them? Any vibration problems?

 

none, they are solid! it's a big solid piece of steel they are mounted to
