I need some help :(

Hey guys,

So I want to get a sub for some extra 'kick' when listening to music. I've never installed or even looked at an installation of this sort of thing, but I am willing to learn.

What I'd like to know is how do I do this? (how to get started, what I need to think about, what I should buy, best way to install, etc..)

I don't want something huge, because I still will need space to pack stuff into the cab (it's an ext. cab), so something that replaces one of the jump seats or something that sits in the middle that gets rid of the cupholders/jack storage.

I have a 2010 Ford Ranger ext. cab if that helps.

Thanks for the help.
Frank

PS: I was originally looking at exhaust, but I've decided to (hopefully) do something a little cheaper for now since I'm still a student.

Are you willing to lose seats? (back seats)

What are you willing to spend?

Yeah, I can lose the back seats, as long as I still have some storage space for moving etc..

I'm willing to spend enough for it to be a decent, properly installed system, but nothing huge.

What would something that I am thinking of cost?

Depends if you get a custom built box or a prebuilt.

My box is custom and was kind of expensive, pre builts are a good deal if you don't want the "custom" look

I'd say you should start with a headunit and door speakers, then build your way up from there, especially since you're only working with 400

What exactly would a headunit and door speakers do? Clearer and higher quality sound?

Yes, signal processing is important, and so is quality speakers to produce the sound efficiently and clearly

Alright, well what brands do you buys recommend?

I appreciate the help, I know literally nothing about this stuff, so I'm going to act a like a sponge while talking with you all and try to absorb it all.

For entry level headunits, Alpine makes good affordable ones
