My University recently bought the old Chrysler plant in Newark DE. (Yes the one bob marley worked at). They up and left EVERYTHING there. Theres a public auction next week and i was looking at a few pics before my buddies and i go next week (in suits of course haha)

Found a miller (looks like a welder but cant tell. too much of a NOOB) in one of the pics and wanted to know what u guys think of it and how much it would normally retail for. Im gona bid on stuff and really want to get a welder, plasma cutter, pipe bender, air tools and a golf cart. Yes they left their plant transportation too.

just looked on welding supplies and some retail in the $20,000-$30,000 range
plus another grand for the trailer

maybe ill move the signs to the auction so no one shows up
ill offer em 50 bucks

there is a place near me that is fixing up those jitneys and selling them. i remember when i worked at ford, i fishtailed one outside in the rain. those little things could be quick.

thats pretty cool your university bought it. are they gonna start offering tech programs or something?

 

i wish they were gonna make it into a car tech center but they arent
its gonna be some stupid nursing program thing
but at least that means they can sell the car stuff out of it

Depending on the auction company and how much stuff there is to sell it could be really expensive. When they auctioned everything at the factory I worked at, they grouped a lot of things together to save time. The Cushman carts were all sold together for a ridiculous amount. But, some things went really cheap, like the 2 post car lift I got for $950. The best thing to do is go to the preview where you can walk around and check everything out. Pick out the items you are interested in and set a max price you would spend on them. Just a few tips.

Well looks like I won't be able to make it. I will have to work that day.

And it's a shame because my dad worked there in the late 70's.
