Picked up #21 yesterday...

Its a 99 4.0 5 speed and has motor issues. I'm not too sure yet if the motor is fixable the previous owner replaced the heads and says it has low compression on one cylinder. I'm not sure if he actually knows how to troubleshoot a problem and I haven't had time yet. Anyway here's a couple pics...

Yeah 21 Rangers! All but 3 have been 98 or newer. I try to stay with 4wd ext cabs but I just get what I can find a good deal on. The one I'm driving was #14 ...lol

Its a junk 4.0. I guess it ran before the PO stole the heads off of it for this truck.

Here's the story. The guy bought it off a friend that told him it had a bad head. He took the heads off the motor in the back and said they only got it running once. He told me it had a bad bottom end. After messing with it for a while.(the plugs were out of it) I put a set of plugs in it and after correcting the firing order I got it running, but its smoking...thats as far as I have gotten...

John, I don't know where you get the energy.

I did an oil pan gasket, oil sender and oil change on the Nissan Wed, opened the pool Thur/Fri, then rotated the tires, washed and dried it, fixed a lawn mower all on Sat, cut the grass today and I'm whipped.

I did rig up a tripod to pull the motor out of the 90. Needs a hoist or block/tackle. Got it seperated from the tranny and forward enough to lift out though. Still don't have a 4.0 donor. $$ spent elsewhere.

Keep at it John, you inspire me.

I know what you mean Earl, I'm whipped too. I'll be the big 50 in June and I am slowing down a little but works also been busy. I'll be pianting our pool tommorrow, its 25x50x9'. It takes about 8 gallons.

I drove it a couple times today. Its actually alot different than driving an extended cab truck. The ride is rougher but it has more power. pulls hils in 5th pretty good! Cool little truck, just needs straightened out some.

I haven't thought that far ahead yet but I always sell under book price. If somebody local doesnt come along and buy it I will probably put it on ebay.
