Sliddin' Edge

It may just be my truck, but when it rains, i'm slidding all over the road and there is little traction at all. Tonight alone i was sliding into the other lane 3 times at least on a one way road!

To climb a hill i have to put the truck in 2 or else i'm spinning all the way up. I would think that since i have the stock tires off and with these wider tires i'd have a little better wet grip that this....maybe my truck end is too light??

Makes me wish i had Traction Control.

anyone else having problems with wet weather?

your tires must be hydroplaning, do you have a good pic of the tread? an LS may help, but it may just be your tires

you dont get better traction from size...

what probably happened is the power you lost prevented the tires from spinning as easily.

I had a similar problem with my truck and my lead foot but after i put my trailer hitch and my toolbox in it isnt quite as easy to slide any more(it just takes a little more effort)

Switching from a narrow tire to a wider tire actually lessens grip. Why you ask? More weight is displaced across a wider area, therfore, more contact patch makes for less weight on each tread block....which can equal less grip in wet/snow situations.

Im not saying it lessons grip in all situations, but most noticebly in wet/snow situations. Definatley add a sandbag or 2 to the bed.....140lbs helps a lot.

yea limited slip helps alot, as long as you have a little bit of gas it keeps you straight for the most part...

Even with my 31s and my 4 banger, in the rain if i ride the clutch a lil to much on start off, i can get my tries spinning quite easily. And going around corners is/were worse. I drive around with at least 2 50lb bags of sand in teh bed, usually 3 sometimes 4. You wouldnt believe how much it will help keep your rear "planted".

Toss a few sand bags in the bed. My friend does that in his 2wd when he goes snowboarding cause even with chains, the rear end still slides all over the place without weight.
