there is no such thing as an '08 FX4 Level II. 2007 is/was the last production year for the FX4 Level II, and no they don't come in a solid color either.
The FX4 Level II's came with 31x10.50x15 BFG A/T's from the factory. They are not that much larger than regular 4x4 tires so fuel milage isn't affected all that much.
If you are worried about fuel milage, then get yourself a Honda Civic.

thanks. im not a huge fan of the fx4 or the level 2 but still good to know. (imo) they are more expensive for nothing cause " I " would remove half the stuff it came with cause someone else would have the same thing and i would put something better in its place.
i dont see the point of buying a truck already "custumized" from factory with all these options that everyone else can have. its not really custom now is it?
you could buy the xlt or the sport and build it up with ur own mix of after market parts and it would look better then any factory option any day. none-the-less probably be cheaper and it will be "a reflection of ur personality."

You know I used to think I would like it better without my flares but now I'm not so sure. If these new flares are anything like the ones on my old 2003 Edge they have 8-10 holes in the fenders/bedsides for the clips to snap in. I wonder if that is still the case.
However I am loving the chrome grille, that would look fabulous on my truck with the chrome capped mirrors!

Pretty much 3 things on the LII didn't carry over as options. Chrome tow hooks, Bilstein shocks (the Rancho HD may be Ford HD shocks with Rancho stickers?), and the 31's
I'm still debating on getting an XLT or Sport 4x4 4.0 manual, or wait for the late build FX4manual. All 3 fully loaded are within 500 dollars, so maybe pay more and get that Torsen and cool shifter?

I initially wanted a manual FX4 also but after careful consideration and talking with some people more knowledgeable than myself I decided against it.
For starters the towing capacity goes way down making me think that the manual tranny that Ford was using is weak. I have several friends with Dodge 2500 with the Cummings and the one with the manual in that truck increases the towing capacity.
I was also informed that having an auto tranny is better for off-roading because you get lower gearing, this came from someone that both loves manual trannies and off-roads.
Food for thought.
2008 Ford Ranger max loaded trailer weight for a supercab 4.0L FX4 w/4.10 axle ratio:
Auto transmission: (GCWR of 9500lbs) tows 5600lbs
Manual transmission: (GCWR of 7000) tows 3140lbs

Are you sure you want a manual in a 4x4 Ranger?

And I have to correct you, it's not spelled with a G, it's Cummins.

Yes, it all boils down to the clutch capacity. It is true, and I have thought about it alot back and forth. I feel if I get auto I'd regret not having manual.
It will be mostly a daily driver, with offroading at least once a month along with my friend's F150FX4, work will be rare but if anything my snap-on roll cab weighs not much over 1k lbs if I ever need to move it from work. With a quad or 2 and some supplies it should be ok.
It is nice to have more capacity than you need, but I would hate to regret it later.
Your truck looks nice on your cardomain btw, makes me want one more.

I know previous LII's had 31 splines, just curious.
If a 31 spline is available then ditching the Torsen option will be easy.

Should be a 31 spline through all the FX4 LII's and as far as I kno, the rear end in the 08 FX4 is still a 31 spline. I know for a fact the TracLoc comes in a 31 spline as thats what i have in mine. Didn't change much except brand of gears and the tracloc when I fixed mine. People will tell you not to go with the tracloc because the clutch packs wear out... after 60-100K miles, I say to hell with that nonsense. The tracloc is cheap, cost me $266 after shipping costs.

Roger that. It just struck me as odd that the auto had a lower gear ratio when the majority of manuals have the lower ratio. No worries on the G, just a pet peeve of mine thats all.
