I went to a local dealer today with a bunch of '06 Rangers in stock. They had an FX4 Level II, Sport, XLT 2WD Super Cab and an XLT 4WD regular cab in stock. I really like most of the changes.

The mirrors are not that big in person. I think they look really nice, though the actual mirror seems a little small.

The Ford emblem on the tailgate is too big, but it's not horrible.

The FX4 Level II had tu tone paint that looked GREAT. It was gray with black from the lower character line down. It's nice to see tu tone paint available again. The polished Alcoas looked awesome too.

The Sport had painted door handles which looked nice. The XLTs and FX4 didn't though.

The fender flares look straight off a Frontier with the fake bolts. Without the fake bolts I think they would look a lot better.

One thing that I didn't like on the 2WD XLT was the front bumper. The whole thing was plastic with foam behind it...like a car bumper. I prefer having a metal bumper, even if it is small. I didn't look to see if the other trucks also had plastic bumpers or not.

 

i like the new badges, i may have to get a set, dunno yet. the grille looks kinda funky with the xtra large ford logo. and i dont like the side mirrors.

 

i'm not sure if you can get a sport in a 4.0, as far as i know they come only in the 3.SLOW, i was thinking of getting a screaming yellow FX4 TREMOR, or a red one in the same trim with the ebony/red cloth interior

yup, still the same as the 2005's inside, the only one i have seen so far has been a 2006 RANGER XL

eh, the new price structure is so that they can charge more, yet you still think ur getting a deal with $3000 off.... to give u an idea, we tracked this with my truck, 05 ranger identical to mine only with carpet, was $1900 more... so at 1900+ per year, the new rangers are effectively $3800 more acrossed the board up to the LVL2 where its about $500 more....

the new "plastic" bumper is gay in my opinion... too car like.

the two tone paint scheme looks AWSOME on the F150.. but dont forget, the bedrails on an F150 are 5ft high. where as the bed rails on a ranger are like 4ft dad made a good point.... 2 tone makes the new ranger, which is already vertically challeneged, makes it look even skinnier, and more and more out of porportion.

 

very nice but when are they suppost to completly redo the ranger

Yea the new ones are supposed to be AWSOME!!! But they still have those freakin tall seats...Im glad I got my '03 with the smaller seats in them...The huge ones are just WAY to big for the cab...but other than that everything is practicaly the same inside...the seats are a pinch different fromt he 04s-05s so...there just trying to make everything look more like the F-150s that it....

 

Went to the dealership this weekend looking for a grille for my 05 xlt. its $150 and they can get it in 2-3 days.

That thing is hideous. I am glad I got my ranger when I did. I def. won't be getting another ranger after seeing how it's going so far...

 

I am possibly thinking about switching to a billet grill, so it anyone has a billet and is looking to trade up for a 2006 let me know. Again I am not sure if it is what I want yet, but we will see.

 

chris, im not sure how the billet works on the 06 models yet, but id bet that most of the kits youll find will be inserts that fit into your factory grille.

 

The only grill material on the truck it the two verticle sections on both sides. Also I think I would have to cut out for the bigger emblem as well. I believe that the grill is deeper than other years so it would have to be mounted in front of the grill, I am not really sure how they install but those are my observations.

 

wow that truck is ugly i took all my ford things off make sit look cleaner... why not just make the whole tailgate a ford emblem

Well I went to the dealer today to get the grille and they said they can't promise one to be shipped anytime soon because they aren't showing any in the system. So needless to say I didn't get one. I also checked Jusnus's website and the link says the grille is on backorder. I would really like to get my hands on one of these so are they available?
