4 wheel drive swap
4 wheel drive swap
I've been thinking about this project for about a year now, and think I have 3 choices to turn my 05 XLT into 4 wheel drive....
1. find a 98 and up, and use the entire frame under mine
2. find a rearended 98 and up , unrivet the frames, and swap front frame sections, (maybe)
3. find find any 4 wheel donor ranger, and just cut and fab everything I need, which I don't have a problem with doing
I thought about just selling mine, but with only 11,000 miles on it. I'm finding it difficult to just get rid of it. It was my dads pride and joy before he past away, and he spent a lot of time keeping it clean and waxed, and loved his Fords. But living in Buffalo, NY..the truck is pretty useless in the snow we get normally 4 months out of the year.
I've been doing a lot of research on this lately and I would greatly appreciate any other ideas or options I haven't come across. They all have pros and cons the 1st 2 ideas would require removing everything off the frame, but the 3rd is a lot of cutting and welding.... but if it was easy, it wouldn't be a project, would it...
