Another one for the 'Accident Mod'

yep, its my turn to be added to those members who've done the accident mod.

did it on saturday on the way to the dunes.

AND WAIT, it gets better...

i was coming up to a stoplight with people in front of me, i was slowing down. i got down to about 10 mph or so. then the light turned green. I then looked behind my left shoulder to check the next lane and my passenger yelled out whoa whoa whoa. i turned around just in time to hit the guys in front of me, who never moved. so... i hear back either today or tomorrow on whether or not my truck is totalled.

on a better note, the next day, sunday, i got to take my quad out to pismo for it's inagural ride. so here's some pics from that

i worry because the lady i was talking to, unofficially and off the top of her head , admittedly, said that the airbags alone would be 3500 (packed, set, and up to safety code). i also didnt tell you what the damage was, that i could find. here's a list:

Fuxed:
hood.
hood hinges
grille
core support
grille shell
fan surround... upper crossmember thingie (you know?)
airbag stuff

not so fuxed, but still...:
bumper & valence

Not Fuxed:
headlights
fog lights
frame
suspension
engine

air bags are expensive....BUT you could save the added cost and fix it yourself (if you have the know how) and save all the money the insurance company would put into labor (ie: put it in your pocke)....you can find bags on ebay all day long for $200 a piece shipped......

your truck is a '03, so i would value it at around $8,500-$9,000 KBB value (being 2wd and all), + the added parts you have (lift, etc....)......the insurance will total it if it is 3/4 of the value of the truck to fix it......speaking from experience here, i have totaled 3 vehicles in the last 7 years (non my fault thankfully).....

sucks about the accident though.....do you have any good powder burns or black eyes from the bags?

I could get you airbags from ajunkard. It's kinda obvious to find unexploded ones.

As MAurice is saying, get them to give you the money to get it fixed, then when its at the shop, go "oh by the way, you can knock off the $6,000,000 price for the airbags, i have some right here."

hey, to keep you guys updated. the insurance adjuster came and checked out my car and did their whole thing, and the value on my truck came back at 12 grand and change. SWEET.

so, its not totalled and the shop is gonna fix it. Now i just have to take it back to the shop and leave it there for "14 business days" so it can be back pre-accident conditions. They're prolly gonna give it back to me with the stock honeycomb grille... but that should be the only change my truck comes out of this with, aesthetically.

haha, so now im gonna be rollin around town with a "compact" from enterprise... i hope to god it's not a pt cruiser.

Buy a grill of ebay or where evr and take it in for them to install, same with the headlights and corners. May save you a little money too.

my headlights weren't damaged, actually... they just got misaligned.

and im not paying for anything other than my deductable. and because its all being done through my insurance, they're not allowed to take special requests from me. ie: a grille.

besides, i cant even find a black billet grille anymore. ****in ballz.

Dude, same situation I had but FAR from totalled, mine didn't total and I had right around 8 grand in damage. I bet you get a Neon, that's what I got BUT if you have a choice get the turbo'd pt.

At any rate, good luck man. Sorry to hear that Florida isn't the only place with stupid drivers that like to hold the brakes in innopportune times. Atleast you get it back.
