Bed Tent Owners
Yes it will work, all the straps (2 on each side if I remember) go down the bedsides.
I have one (Bed Tent) if anyone is interested by the way. Its Blue and Grey. Bought it for the 99 I had. Never even used it because I ended up buying a camper shell.

I'll take $50 plus shipping. Its for a short bed ranger...I do remember that...lol I dont remember who makes it. I will look when I get home to see who makes it and I will also take some pics of it. Its in great shape, only set it up once just to see what it looked like in the truck...but then I got a bonus check and bought a camper shell, so its been sitting on a shelf since then.
heres mine which is a newer model than what sea bass has.

as for the question at hand, it will work but you wont be able to put it over the front of your bed as easy, which means it wont be as good in rainy weather. Id suggest tarping the front so most of the water runs into the space between the bed and cab if you do go camping in adverse weather.
Edit: I may possibly go camping this weekend so i can take more close ups to show you what i mean bout the front

I can always pull the cover off so I can get it over the front too. I'm going to work on a quick release system so i can take it off quicker, it should be really easy to do. Just some wing nuts and away it goes.
