Hello all,

My 01 Ranger 3.0 4x4 didn't come with a tow package installed.

I would like to put one on. I haven't had much time to shop for one but I did see one at Walmart. I believe it was around $120.

Is this tow package worth the time and money or is it junk. If it is could you tell me where to find a decent one.

What brand was it, or do you remember?

 

you could go to a junkyard and find towing hitches all day long that attach to rangers.

 

ebay cheaper than that ($70) and I didnt have to pay shipping...drilled 2 holes for bolts, and mounts to the same bolts as bumper.. rated higher than I will use... pulls my 3000 lb boat no problems... pulled the 4500 lb Jeep / trailer a time or two ( engine hated me but pulled fine )

 

don't forget to install the radiator cooler.

 

What you need is a Sweet towing package like Aaron has!

 

No I don't remember the brand...seemed like a generic/universal brand that fit a bunch of light trucks, that's why I was concerned about it.

 

actually ford prices for a hitch arent too bad IMO...around 150 IIRC

and Machine090767, thanks for the cooler suggestion, will definitely have to do that.
I'll be pulling a 15ft trailer and probably a 17-18ft boat in the future.

 

with a 3.0 ranger?

 

our trailer is a 16ft and my truck does fine pulling it... except we have a weight distrution hitch with bars and when I pull it I run with o/d off.

 

AND, I thought that Rangers came stock with radiator coolers... mine did

 

do you mean trans coolers ?
if so, then mine did too, but its a 99

 

yea all automatic trans in any car come with a trans cooler...granted they are bigger in trucks
