Cheated on my truck today

Well I dont know if I would go that far . You could say I looked but did not touch .

For a month I have been driving past the Chevy dealer (yuck) and seen a diamond in the rough. 2002 Yellow Tremors Ranger . Instinctively as any fellow ranger enthuisiast would do I became curious. (They would also want to rescue her from a parking lot full of Chevys)

So today after taking my last final I decided to look into the truck.....Normally I am not a yellow truck guy but I could really see black wheels and tires on the yellow truck with a nice westin bar in front.

Like I said its an 02, 3.0L SOHC 38,000 miles on the clock, 2wd but it has limited slip. I dont know the axle yet but the axle code on the door was R7.

Here is the listing on auto trader : http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Here is my truck right now with the exception of a new bug shield and minus tonneau cover:

My plans for my current ranger are BL, Spindle lift, shackles, 4.10's and 33's.

I was curious about the trade in value the guy would give me. My truck is a 3.0l pushrod 2wd, l/s with 106,300 on the clock. I told him I wanted 3,500 to just throw it out and start and he said 2,500 is the highest he would give me . In the office I think he jacked the price up from the listed autotrader price because I believe he told me 9,995. So I would bring it down once I tell him that.

The guy said with the 2,500 trade in the I would end up spending about 7,800. Im sure I can go there and be like here is 7,400 cash or 7k and walk out with it.

I dont know what to do I feel horrible just thinking about this haha ......I think im going to pass it up but just wanted to hear what all the other R-Fers think. Ideally my next truck I want 4wd and a 4.0. But the good thing about this truck is low miles, sweet tremors stereo system, nice tonneau cover, and everything im buying for my ranger can be switched over.

I just dont think I could drive by that lot in the tremors while my baby sits in the lot overpriced and potentially end up in a bad home..

I need to take this to the mammio section or Dr. Phil

If you want a 4.0 and 4x4, then buy one of those. I bought mine for 9,900 or something like that.

Just had to ***** it didnt you? Lol just kidding that truck is bad ***. Would love one like that but expensive.

I would say get this one 4.0 Low miles not much more 4x4
That does look like a nice truck. IDK I cant look at trucks hahah. I like my truck to much and its been so reliable to let go now! Sentimental value being my first truck purchase

R7 is 4.10 LS actually
I knew it was l/s by the number next to the letter. Was just unsure the gear size.
That is another sweet part of the truck!!!! 4.10's If I got it no need for regearing to place those 33's on
i say get a 4x4 4.0 5 speed lol for the same money you can get a 4x4. there is a level 2 near me for 12k right now
That would be sweet and I would learn how to drive a manual.

Salesman is offering $7,800 and you are thinking about $7,400??? You can do better than that. If you really want to buy it play hardball with them, it's a buyers market out there right now. It's easy to do especially since you aren't completely sold on it you shouldn't have a problem walking away.

I would walk in there and offer them $6,500, give them your name and number, then leave (unless they actually accept it on the spot).

Greg,

They dont make a 3.0 SOHC. is it a 3.0 OHV or a 4.0 SOHC?

Second, dont get a 2wd, i know you will be disappointed, and 4x4 conversions arent something i want to get in the business of doing...lol

Also, your truck is gonna look sick when we are done with it, so keep it! and youll have less money invested in it then you would to buy this thing

Ya that is what I am going to do.

Your right about that much. I think I said 7k but thinking about it im sure I can get them down to somewhere near $6,500. Funny thing his when I talked to the guy I said, "ya seen the truck out there for about a month or two....having a hard time selling it". He said, "NOOOO not that long ill check the sheet......(after checking the sheet) its been here 25 days." lol. I should do it for the hell of it and see what happens .
if you have the chance to get another truck, dont get the 3.0 again. wait till you find a good truck with the 4L
Ya that is my plan Im trying to stick by.

Greg,

They dont make a 3.0 SOHC. is it a 3.0 OHV or a 4.0 SOHC?

Justin way to make me look newbish on the forums Mods can you please take out the line about the 3.0 SOHC I dont know at first when looking at it I thought it was the 4.0 SOHC. Engine looked totally different from mine thats why I thought that. But salesman said it was a 3.0 so I got confused . All I know is the belt is way down in the engine. So maybe a 3.0 OHV there may be a picture on the link to the truck above.

Your right about the 2wd. I told you to many times I want 4x4 so way to have my back before I make a bad call haha. You are also right about how sick the truck is going to look when its all said and done :.

Again im not going to get this truck but just felt like posting because the idea did pop into my head butttttttttt it was just an idea!

Not a bad truck, but way overpriced especially being 2wd. My 02 4x4 could command that kind of money.

I will never ever buy another 2wd truck unless it is to be lowered and only used in the summer.

I'd keep the one ya got. That's a nice rig you have.

7800 for a 2002 ranger with 260k miles? Wow I'm taking my truck and selling it where you are if the market is that high on them.

I've seen 2000 and 2001 B4000 4x4's up here in the last few months in the $10-15k range. The cheapest ones I've seen have been around $4950.

It's common knowledge that trucks are overpriced and hold their value better than cars. There's a 98 Ranger XLT at a local dealer here and they want $5000 for it and its all rusty and has a ton of miles on it.

My local dealer has a 2002 and a 2004 xlt, 4x4s, one is a fx4 level 1, for in the 8-9k range. Both have 70 to 80k miles.
