what does the 4x4 offroad ranger decal entail?

4x4 off road
same here, 99 OR 4x4 pkg - i think this is what was offered prior to the FX4 packages being implemented ....
?
anyone know the Rear diff tag decoder for gear ratios and type of diff?

rear diff
it DOES start with a "10" so i assume i have 4.10 gears, but am looking for the LS flag.....
PO did tell me it was 4.10 but wasnt sure on the LS.
this is my second ranger (new to me) 1999...

no ford came with posi....its limited slip I believe posi is a gm thing
Im just wondering why ford billed a regular ranger as a 4x4 offroad when it doesn't even have a l/s or aggressive tires...the fx4 lvl 2 was a step in the right direction but thats gone now

I bought my 01 brand new with a 4x4 off road package, No limited slip, no skid plates (except the gas tank one that all 4x4's got), It got you an upgraded shock, 16" rims (standard) with Firestone wilderness at tires and a set of stickers. That was it. There were no factory skid plates other than the gas tank plate in 2001. They had a one year absence and returned in the 2002 fx4 (same as lever II) the next year. I had gray painted shock that looked bigger than the standard black shocks offered that year.

But it did get you 16" rims standard and I know in 01 it got you different shocks, but not bilsteins, I know they looked thicker than standard and were painted gray. My buddy bought a similar truck in that year that had 15" rims and 235/75/15 tires with skinny black painted shocks. other than that our trucks were Identical but his had one 4x4 sticker on the tailgate only. I am not saying it was much more than a sticker for a package, but it was something.

I've always thought the Xlt 4x4 off road = 4.10's, mid and aft skids, and a rear LS. I think it's safe to say they've all got 4.0's....JUST LIKE THE 03+ Fx4 Off Road(NOT Level2 or '02 Fx4).
Mine is not a 4x4 Off Road....but came fully loaded minus LS, skids, and power options. Only a 4x4 sticker on the tailgate. 4x4 Off Roads have the decals on the bed sides.
*Posi = GM But Posi and LS are both terms to describe limited slips units.

In 01 it didn't, I have the brochure right here and the off road package gets you 16" rims and "gas bulge body shocks" You could not get 15's in a 4x4 ORP in 01 at least. I started collecting ranger brochures and option lists in 01 so I can't tell you what they did in previous years.

Mine came with the 16's, and it's not an OR model.

my XLT offroad and towing package, has the skidplates 4.10's caus the towing package i think the sales tag also says it has larger trans cooler, also has LS, and the "wide tire package" witch was a 245/75-16, and i think thats why my truck has flares. Not sure thats just what i think.

Like Shanes truck - Mines came loaded with everything but L/S, and skids - I dont have a gas tank skid or anything.. which sort of makes me iffy because that plastic gas tank under there is pretty vulnerable..!
Of course, I have the 4x4 Offroad decals on my bed sides - doesn't mean anything really as far as I can tell, minus telling people I have 4x
