intermittent humming from rear

Icon5 intermittent humming from rear
hi all,
i have an intermittent humming sound from my 89 5sp rear end..i thought it was speed sensor in diff.but i was wrong...any ideas?.....truck runs nice as usual

A failing u-joint can make a variety of noises that may sound as if they're from the rear axle.
