Dumped exhaust, and did some painting
Well today I brought my truck to the shop and had them replace the fan clutch, I could not get it out. While it was in there I had them weld on a new bracket for my dangling flowmaster, and cut off the pipe right after the exhaust.
Now its alot louder, its annoying in the cab, but it sounds sick outside (had my buddy drive around). My concern now is, what will happen underneath my truck where the exhaust is dumped? My roomate said it will build up a whole bunch of black crap and start to rot away the bed and leaf springs and all that stuff. Is this true?
Also, I painted my steps and threw them back on, and painted the crossmember and bumper brackets, and the radiator skid shield like you all said to do. Looks alot better Ill post picks tonight.

I like the way it sounds dumped, anyone have pics (close up) of a dumped exhaust that goes out the side, like in front of the rear tire? I think I can cut the pipe in front of the muffler and move the muffler back about a foot, then find a piece of pipe at auto zone with a bend in it and clamp it onto the muffler, so that it will exit out the side of the truck, not underneath it. how about that?
Anyone have pics of this?
Only thing is that I put the flowmaster in myself, so it was not welded I used those clamps, would I still be able to use the muffler? like after I unbolt the clamps and get the pipe out of it will pipe fit back in or will it be too bent up?

Oh well that's not too bad. Atleast the fumes are further away from the cab.
The drone is probably just bad because it echo's around under there.
With the sport trac, I cut the end of the exhaust off as it came down behind the axle. You couldn't see the tail pipe but it still pushed the exhaust down and out the side.

Yeah thats why the drone is so bad. I've never ever smelled the fumes in the cab, even idling at a light with both windows down. Mine is set pretty far back though, comes out about 5" from the axle. I'm not a real fan on the side exhaust exhaust but I think I'm going to get it done because its cheap and gets rid of the drone.

blahhh.....it's only a partial concern when sitting at idle with no wind. Driving down the road, the fumes will exit out from under the bed. I've been dumped for a good 2 years now. And by dumped, i mean turndowns on the outlet of the muffler. that quiets it down on the inside of the truck.

Those wheels and tires were actually just purchased to sell the truck. I pulled my other 15x8's and Cooper STT 33's off the ranger, and put them on my sport trac. The wheels were inexpensive and decent looking, and the tires were used and cheap.
