Stepside bed width

Hello all,

I'm thinking about getting a Ranger and have found a '97 on Craigslist. It's a stepside, and I wonder if a stepside will carry 4 foot wide plywood or drywall sheets. I called the owner and she has no idea what I am talking about. The Ranger is a 2 hour drive from here and I don't want to waste a trip.

Thanks in Advance,
Dave

I beleive it's 44" or 46" between the bed rails and tailgate width.

I know the tool chest I bought for mine was a 42" model and it didn't have much clearance on either side.

It's definitely less than 48" (I think it was 44"). So nope, you can't fit a piece of plywood in there unless you lean it on one of the bedrails.

Yeah I hauled a bunch of 4'x8' peices of plexiglass.........that was an experience. I think I robbed most of the twine at the home depot trying to secure it. lmao

yeah, had to haul some 4x8 sheets of plywood once, that was an experiance, i use the van to haul sheet goods now, but you would be surprised as to how much will fit in a step bed
