Just out of curiosity, what filter was in the box?

It's pretty easy to distinguish an FL-820S, FL-400, FL-910, FL-1A, etc etc from anything else....

Can't do that.....you should specify that YOUR dealer did not warranty it, but legally they cannot deny a claim simply b/c you did not use an OEM filter. If you installed it wrong, the part was wrong, etc then the dealer can deny. But simply saying aftermarket filters automatically void warranties is not only wrong but illegal.

If you are truely ethical you should inform the customer of this or change the story...of course you may not have a job after this.....

I have used Motorcraft Filter since… forever and have never had a problem.
If the filter was the correct one for your engine then the only thing is the Gasket but you said you checked or maybe not tight enough.
Don’t give up on the MC Filters, they are rated above average, Mobile 1, although rated well enough, i snot my fav…

Mobile 1 every 6K with Motorcraft Filters at 3K, with added oil and 6K, then repeat…

I didn’t know Wal Mart had MC Filters will have to check it out the next chg.
Mobile 1 = $28 for 2 chgs, 6 months (CAPS Auto Parts Store Special - $28/6 qt.
MC Filters = 2 x $5 = $10

Total $38 every 6 months… or $19 an Oil Chg; not too bad !

They checked to see if it was the one that was supposed to be in the box, I see how easy it is to get two in one isle away from the check out and then swap the contents in another isle. Like I said " I never thought of swapping them" myself. I think if you had a K&N filter in and Motor Craft box, that would be hard to explain but if it were the same brands but different #'s them it might be a supplier error. I only buy MotorCraft for my Mustang and Ranger and I do check the boxes now......FL-1A and FL 400s
