My carputer progress...
Made the case yesterday and today, I need to assemble the HD enclosure, and finish the CD enclosure.
Stayed up until 2 am today stripping down WinXP install, iGuidance is on its way...
It's my old celeron 600mhz (800?) computer, 384 of RAM, gonna do 2 256 chips though.
I need to order the screen and adapters for the HD's and CD, buy the USB Wifi, install the software, mount it all up, and be good to go.

Poser, lol.
If you can get away with using less RAM, do it. It will help your hibernate resume speed. I have a gig in my carpc and will probably be dipping down to 512 or 256MB.
Are you using TinyXP to strip XP down? I found that removing a lot of windows components using a stripping program can make your system very unstable. I'm using just a regular install of XP with SP2 and a few minor tweaks and it runs quickly and very well.
What are you thinking about using for a power supply?

For stripping it down, I'm using nLite. I took out pretty much everything that wasn't needed, but left the system components inplace. I integrated SP2 into the ISO that nLite put out for me, so It is already installed.
Power supplywise I'm still looking, which I forgot to put in the first post. You said the M2 was junk, so I'm looking into other brands now.
For the touchscreen, I was thinking of going with a Lilliput 629GL-something, we'll see if that happens though.

Yeah stay away from the M2. My OPUS brand unit was a little bit bigger than the M2, but vastly superior in the performance. Lilliput screens can be bad too, or have a tendency to have bad pixels. Do some reading on MP3car.com and see what you think.
I tried using nLite a few times also. Let me know what your results look like. I could never get my bluetooth or hibernation to work properly when I tried nLite or TinyXP.

I made a bigger case, and ditched the seperate enclosures for the HD's / CD drive. Got an IDE adapter for the HDs, and setup windows on it. The nLite install I put together, didn't work, it wanted the CD key, which I entered a valid one, yet it still wouldn't let me install.
For the next week or so, it's on the back burner, spring break is here, and I left it back in my dorm room.
