sorry to hear the bad news.
As mine sits in the driveway right now, I have 399 764km or just about 250k miles.
6 years of easy highway miles has been good to her,but now she's in for a little work and abuse after she hits 400k,but she's broken in and knows how to use it when the time comes.
Ford doesn't lie when they say Built Ford Tough.

yes yes and yes. i will be bringing her back to life. i have decided not to go with a 5.0. the 4.0ohv that she has, has done me well. there will be a rebuild thread on her for sure, and i will post lots of pictures. the heads are blown so bad that she has actually locked up from the amount of coolant in her. in the meantime i am the proud new owner of a 1997 ford explorer with a 5.0

I just put new heads on my "99 4.0, had a hairline crack btween valves on cyl 3. Put new complete heads, pushrods, lifters, gaskets, etc on it and runs better than ever now. Just be sure if you rebuild a 4.0 to go back in her to get the newer designed heads for her (thicker castings around the coolant passages). Personally I would rather have a 4.6 like my Lincoln has than a 5.0 if I were going to upgrade... but I know it would be more of a b****h to work on.
