It either will not, or will take a LONG time to get to operating temp. Get A T-Stat, STAT.

it wont have heat.......the truck will not overheat because of the cold temperatures and the constant flow of water through the block...

Why would you NOT have a thermostat? Seems like a stupid thing to do. If you took a bad one out, putting a new one in is no extra work and is only a couple bucks.

i for one have never understood how some people can drive around knowing there is something wrong with their truck. sure, somethings are expensive, but if you don't fix the problem, it'll lead to more problems and expenses later on.

thanks for the replies. My truck is a 2001 and I can only buy it at the dealership. Peboys has universal thermostats. The thermostat i need has an electrical plug on it.
I didnt know my gas was burning faster without a therm.

i gotta get one soon!
