Need Advice on CB set up.

$250 is a reasonable price for a good starter setup. I have a Cobra C75WXST, its got all the controls in the handset so you don't need to mount a box anywhere in the cab, a stakehole mount, a spring, and a 3' firestikII.. You could probably get all of that and the odds and ends (connector, cable) for around $250.

Well The Bronco I bought has the provisions for a reagular CB mount where the Ashtray used to be. Plus the wire already to an antenna base in the back, just no antenna screwed on.
So, Don't have to worry about mounting the box, as long as it fits in the ashtray.
Thanks for your help, I have been looking at some of the Cobras that Summit sells, but wasn't sure if they were any good or not.

well as far as cobra goes, you CANNOT go wrong...
Cobra25 low-medium performance - somewhat moddable - good price
Cobra29 mid-high end performance - very moddable to get stellar output - good price
Cobra148 top of the line - very moddable - decent price
i've got the 148 mated with a 300 watt linear....it's highly modified for highway use...
when i had my wilson cool 5000's (old style center load) i could run a copper wire from antenna to antenna, slide a hot dog onto the wire and microwave it.... It was setup to run in my KW W900...in my ranger it will kill my battery if i hold the mic down for around 30 secs, and that's with the engine running going down the highway....

Man, I wish I understood all of this stuff.
IS there anythign you can just buy that is "good enough"
I have never dealt with CB's before. Is there a good webpage to visit that gives a good explanation on all of the technical terms and how exactly different items function. I think that would be the best so I could make a educated purchase. All you guys have these great set ups, I am not sure I really need all of that. Especially something that will cook a Hot Dog I think tha tmay be more than what I need.
What do you all use your CB's for?
