Possibly buyin a new Ranger...

I have been looking into buying a new Ranger. I want the new body style which is 06 and up right? Lets say if i were to order a brand new one what options, specs, and tranny would you recommend? It would be used as a DD at first but would plan to do many things to it a down the road! Like lifting...(body or susp?), tires & rims(of course), and who knows what else.

Let me know some of your ideas.

Do you want/need a 4x4 or 2wd? Do you tow or want something good on gas? Do you offroad or stick to the street? Once you figure out what you need/want we can help you more.

06+ is the new body style, in 08 they changed the front valance back to round fog lights but thats about the only difference. No major changes in 09 compared to 08.

well i know i want a super cab, a 4x4, and proly the 4.0L. it will be used for more street driving but i want to be able to go offroad when i want. hence the eventual upgraded tires and a lift. i dont really tow anything but i have used my current hitch so id proly also get the tow package.

i guess im wondering about axles: XLT has 3.73 or 4.10 and each are either limited or non-limited slip(so total choice of 4 different). The FX4 has only a choice of 4.10 but in limited or Torsen limited(total of 2 choices).

i like having a 5sp but what would be better offroading on mostly flat land and nothin too severe(its NEBRASKA lol) and for the cab 2 or 4 door? ive heard that the 4 doors dont get a good seal and howls drivin down the road?

FX2.3 i will be keepin my current truck but im thinkin that a whipple would blow my engine its had a lot of wear n tear(from the owner before me lol)

thanks for ur ideas

Well if your keeping your old truck. I'd go with a 2wd then. No need for two offroad trucks.

Get an FX4. Its got the larger rear axle as well as the nicer interior. I wish I would have bought an FX4...

Really the only but not huge thing that i dont like about the FX4's is the 'tutone' paint.
Does anyone know if the 09 FX4's will have the tutone as well?
